New STA Membership Opportunity Offered for
Non-member Attendees to the SAS/SATA Test Session
San Francisco, May 10, 2004 -
The SCSI Trade Association (STA), a member-run industry consortium established
to support and promote SCSI technology, announced that a special test session
on June 23-24 has been scheduled during the next Serial Attached SCSI (SAS)
plugfest to test the interoperability of Serial ATA (SATA) products operating
within a SAS component infrastructure. The special session is open to
non-member vendors for $2,000, and is expected to be a recurring event at each
subsequent SAS plugfest.
To accommodate non-members that wish to play a larger role in the plugfest, STA
has established a new membership class designated as Interop Member, which
offers substantial discounts to repeat plugfest attendees. Vendors who join STA
as an Interop Member prior to June 7 will be eligible to attend the June 23-24
session at no charge. To learn the various membership payment options, session
attendance credits and benefits of the new Interop Membership, please visit the
STA web site at http://www.scsita.org/aboutsta/join.html.
Harry Mason, President of the STA Board of Directors and Director of Industry
Marketing, LSI Logic, commented, "The overwhelming interest in the first SAS
plugfest held in March prompted the STA Board of Directors to establish this
new Interop Membership class. The benefits of the new membership class are
significant, but the most important benefit is to ensure that SATA products can
interoperate with emerging SAS implementations. STA has made attendance
possible for any company that wants to take advantage of the opportunity."
The new Interop Membership class has been added to the existing STA membership
classes, which currently include Sponsor, Principal and Promotional Membership
categories. For more information on all STA membership classes and particularly
the new Interop Member class, please visit the STA web site at the address
given above.
The second STA plugfest has been scheduled for the week of June 21-25 at
UNH-IOL. STA is planning additional plugfests later in the year, also to be
hosted by UNH-IOL. Interop members will be eligible to attend plugfests held
later in the year.
