Santa Clara, CA December 11, 2007 - LeCroy Corporation., a leading supplier of oscilloscopes and serial protocol solutions, has enhanced the industry's only 6Gb/s traffic generating emulators for SAS and SATA protocols. These emulators, which are designed to run on the STX-460 platform, enable developers to generate valid and invalid traffic at 6Gb/s speeds. The enhancements add additional capability to support Connection Multiplexing for both hosts and devices, support for the new SMP commands, and support for emulating two hosts or two drives simultaneously.
“One of the most complex and significant additions to the SAS specification is Connection Multiplexing. Emulators are crucial to our customers enabling them to test and debug this functionality in their products,” said Matthew Hallberg, Storage Protocol Specialist for LeCroy’s Protocol Solutions Group. “The STX-460 platform from LeCroy is the only test system that is capable of emulating connection multiplexing from either the host or device side, enabling our customers to accelerate their product development cycle ahead of industry-wide adoption...”
With the STX emulators, high-level commands can be easily defined and sent to initiator or target devices through a series of convenient pull-down menus. All traffic on the bus, including traffic generated by the STX and returned traffic from the device under test, is captured and displayed in an intuitive trace format. Looping, iteration, and a wealth of conditional statements provide for precise control of the emulator scripting routines.
All LeCroy SAS and SATA protocol analyzers and exercisers enable both storage system and component developers to locate errors and verify a solution quickly and accurately.
