Celebration Dinner Held May 22 in San Jose
SAN FRANCISCO, CA., April 30, 2001 -- The SCSI Trade Association (STA), the
member-run industry group, established to support and promote SCSI (Small
Computer System Interface) technology, announced today that it is celebrating
twenty years of SCSI performance with a dinner at the Fairmont Hotel in San
Jose, CA, on Tuesday, May 22, from 6-9:00pm. The dinner occurs the evening
before the International Data Corporation (IDC) Storage Conference, which is
scheduled for May 23-24 at the Fairmont. STA and IDC are cross-promoting the
dinner and the conference, allowing attendees to conveniently attend both
events. STA guests include industry press and analysts, financial analysts and
early SCSI developers.
The evening will include cocktails, dinner and a program. The highlight will be
a video of the 20-year history of SCSI technology, featuring six early SCSI
developers telling the story in their own words. They will describe how they
defined the SCSI specification, were successful in getting it accepted by ANSI
(the national standards group) and detail how they developed the succeeding
generations of SCSI technology, including the current seventh generation. There
will be an extensive display of early SCSI artifacts and memorabilia for the
enjoyment of the attendees.
David Reinsel, Senior Analyst, Hard Disk Drives and Components, IDC, will
present "SCSI in the New Millennium," with a look at where SCSI technology
might go in the future. "The SCSI story is unique in the industry as it has far
outlived predictions about its longevity," said David Reinsel. "Celebrating
twenty years of any technology is a momentous occasion in this fast-changing
industry."
An awards ceremony will conclude the evening. SCSI developers, architects,
editors and industry leaders who made significant contributions to the
technology over the years will be honored and receive an engraved award.
Companies will also be honored. Judges for the awards include STA members,
industry editors, analysts, T10 members and the nominees themselves.
